From Hearing Update to Rule/Contract Watch

As you may have read, the Lottery is currently conducting the process by which it determines its next contract. My last update was here . Since then, thing have really started to heat up.

Commission Meeting: At a Lottery Commission meeting in September both the Oregon Restaurant Association and Stand for Children presented testimony. Stand for Children regurgitated their standard arguments and then submitted their proposal for the new rates while the ORA had a Economics Professor from OSU come in and present some findings. At the meeting, the Commissioners were also given updated information on the public comments and press coverage since the last meeting.

Legislature: The Legislature held a hearing on the subject inviting the Lottery, ORA, and Stand for Children. All sides presented their point of view on the process and the committee used the opportunity as an information session.

Public Comment Closes: The public comment period closes on Monday at 5PM. At that point, the Director will review the information gathered and will work toward likely discussion and approval of the new contract on October 30. Thus, hearing updates will now shift to Rule/Contract watch and the process moves forward.
