I haven't blogged much about my recent wine tasting happenings or such so here are some quick thoughts for a gray Sunday afternoon.
- Amity Vineyard's Gamay Noir is excellent, I guess you usually don't see this grape alone because apparently it is most often used in Chianti. The Gamay Noir alone just tastes like the pure fruit flavor sometimes hidden in a Chianti.
- Remember when the wine snob movie Sideways dropped Merlot sales by 2%? Well, Eola Hills's 2007 Reserve "LaCreole" Merlot is an argument to bring the once-bashed wine back.
- Speaking of Sideways, rumor has it they are going to be filming a sequel in Oregon.
- I recently went to Bethel Heights Vineyard for some tasting and found most of their pretty good but a bit pricey for what is was. With the exception of their 2006 Justice Pinot Noir, not much to write home about.
- Last but not least, I finally hit true wine snob fashion when I saw this Yellow Tail commercial. Spilling a bottle of Yellow Tail is only a tragedy because someone was tasteless enough to buy it for a romantic dinner in the first place. Look under the couch for some spare change and go buy another bottle or better yet, get some Welches grape juice, it's just as good.

you're such a snob :-) Yellowtail isn't any worse than half the stuff we've tasted in the wineries around here and it's much cheaper...okay that may not even be true but it's fine to cook with.
